Using Technology to Support ELL and Struggling Learners
Groups will research assigned sites and content. A group presentation will be prepared in PowerPoint and presented as a group.Sites and groups will assigned the first night.

Virtual Field Trip
Create a Virtual Field Trip using Weebly and other resources.
Reflection
Reflect on either one of these topics and type your thoughts in a single spaced word document that is 1200-15-- words.
You will:
• Include the topic you are reflecting on,
• Change the margins of the document to have 1 inch all around,
• Use the header or footer to write your name on every page and insert page numbers,
• Check that the word count is between 1,200 and 1,500 words,
• Run a spell check, and
• Submit your paper electronically as an attachment to the instructor.
Topic 1:
How would you define “Technology”? Based on your definition, how might you most effectively learn to use and integrate technology in your classroom? What application would be involved and how would each be utilized to facilitate learning?
Topic 2
From the teacher’s perspective, discuss some of the advantages, issues and challenges associated with technology integration in the classroom and address how would deal with these in your classroom.
Teacher Tools:
You will explore various sites (such as http://www.4teachers.org/) which will assist you in creating teachers aid tools to submit to the Instructor. You will submit these in a folder. There should be a total of 8 documents in your folder.
1. Create a rubric for a lesson or unit you are planning.
2. Do a certificate or award. .
3.Create a grade sheet.
4. Create or download a graphic organizer. Save it and add it to your folder.
5. Create a timeline with eight events from your life. Add a border and print it out.
6. Spreadsheet Assignment: With this assignment you will integrate graphing features while engaging in activities such as Food Calories, M&Ms and Skittles counting. (See end of the written syllabus.) Follow the directions and print out your final document and add to folder.
7. TPE Critical Assignment: You will develop a lesson plan integrating the use of technology. This lesson plan will follow a template provided by the instructor that can be found in the NHU folder on each computer. You will be start the lesson plan in class and submit it in your folder on the next to last night of class. You will keep this lesson for your exit portfolio.
8. Data Assignment and Table Creation. Go to the “Just for Kids” site. Enter a school and district of your choice. Create a table and chart for your school and district showing your data. You will need to use the “Draw Table” tool and “Merge Tool” for your chart. Print out your chart and add to your folder. (See end of printed syllabus for sample.)

Look under Tech Tools Portfolio for further instructions on how to create the tech portfolio through Weebly.
Final:
A final will be administered the last night of class.
