Title: Interactive Tour of Chemistry for Kids
URL: http://www.chem4kids.com/
Objectives: Students will take a tour of how to use and learn basic Chemistry to get an idea of what Chemistry topics we will be learning and how Chemistry works. From the information they obtain on their virtual tour, students should be able to answer some questions as they enter into different links and explore the different lessons.
1. What is made up of atoms and molecules, but also has a mass?
2. Looking at the Periodic Table, what are groups?
3. What are three main key points to a chemical reaction?
4. If you want to build proteins, you need what?
5. What is an amino acid?
Content: The Interactive tour of Chemistry for Kids has useful information through text, images, links for help, and quizzes that show the basics of Chemistry and teaches Chemistry through simple texts and interesting colors.
How to use in a lesson:
A lesson plan that the students would have is they will explore the website and search for answers to the above questions. Another research in the website could have the students create project posters to explain more on a specific topic within the website.
Some useful lesson plans related to Chemistry:
By Oracle ThinkQuest Education Foundation
